Funki Fotos - run by Dina Bohnsack and André Raubenheimer - is a well-established business, which has been in existence for over 4 years. This dynamic couple has a mutual passion for photography – André specializes in photography, while Dina handles the post-production and framing aspects. André’s work has been on exhibition in well-known galleries as well as having been featured on DSTV’s Africa Awakes. Funki Fotos aims to fill the gap in the market for the beginner, enthusiast or hobbyist who would like to add a touch of professionalism to their photographs.

This course is specifically designed for the owners of Digital SLR cameras that need help firstly with understanding how their camera works and then our professional photographer shares some great tips that will improve the students photographs drastically. Level 1 is designed for beginners wanting to improve their photos and their skills. No previous knowledge is necessary. They need to bring their cameras. Assignments are given every week which are fun and constructive. It is a course for young and old alike - a minimum age of 16 is imposed though.

I did Funki Fotos' course for beginners and found it easy to follow and enjoyed using my camera with an expert on hand to help me. The tips and tricks André shared with me really have improved my pictures and I can actually capture those special "once in a lifetime" moments with my children. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and learnt a great deal about how to capture quality photos using our Nikon D40X as we often take a lot of photos from our camping trips, travels and of course our darling children. The 3-day course strikes just the right balance between teaching the fundamental principles without being overwhelming. The assignments were great fun, though painful when seeing where you went wrong, and are definitely all a part of learning how to get the best out of your camera. We soon discovered that good photography really is not as daunting and complicated as it once seemed. André’s enthusiasm is infectious and it’s so rewarding to learn from such a gifted photographer. He encourages us all to develop a more mature, creative approach to photography which is ultimately so much more rewarding than the “happy snaps”. Andre is a mine of information, showing what works and what doesn’t, and sharing some of the tricks of the trade.
